The Problem

Coffee is the seed of a fruit. This fruit is grown at high elevations near the equator around the world. Most coffee trees produce fruit once per year. This fruit is largely harvested by hand, the pulp is removed and the seed is dried. These seeds are bagged and shipped to the roasters around the world. The people doing all this work – farmers, pickers, millers, their families and all those who support the process – remain largely unseen and unacknowledged. The history of colonial exploitation in these parts of the world has set consumer expectations for price unrealistically low.

Odd Box aims to provide high quality, traceable coffee to a wide range of customers and businesses. We will educate our consumers on how to craft the best coffee at home or at their business, while highlighting the people who work to produce coffee.

As well, we recognize that we’ve all come to coffee differently - light or dark, single origin or blend. Just because you love coffee different, doesn’t mean you love it less. We want to provide the right coffee for YOU - without compromising the people who got it here.

Why Start as just a Roastery

We are a young company. We hope to open a café someday. For now, by focusing on our craft as roasters, we can grow faster and stay nimble. We hope to invite you to our Tasting Room in the early months of 2024 where you will be able to try our coffee and purchase bags.
